DESRIST2027

Chicago skyline at dusk, seen from Lake Michigan

Finding your accommodation

Details of a discounted DESRIST 2027 hotel room block will be posted here. Until then, these areas are all within easy reach of Venue SIX10 (610 South Michigan Avenue):

  • South Loop and Michigan Avenue: within walking distance of the venue, with many hotels facing Grant Park.
  • The Loop: Chicago’s downtown core, a 10–20 minute walk or a short ‘L’ ride away.
  • River North and Streeterville: lively neighborhoods north of the Chicago River, about 15 minutes by bus, ‘L’ or taxi.

June is a busy month in Chicago, so we recommend booking early.

Getting to Chicago

Chicago is one of the best-connected cities in North America, with two major airports, a national rail hub and an extensive public transit network. Get here …

Chicago O’Hare International Airport (ORD) is the main international gateway, with direct flights from across North America, Europe and Asia. The CTA Blue Line runs from the airport to downtown around the clock (about 45 minutes). By taxi or rideshare, allow 30–60 minutes depending on traffic.

Chicago Midway International Airport (MDW) handles mainly domestic flights and is closer to downtown. The CTA Orange Line reaches the Loop in about 25 minutes; Harold Washington Library–State/Van Buren and Roosevelt are the closest stops to the venue.

Amtrak trains from across the U.S. arrive at Chicago Union Station, about 1.5 km (1 mile) west of the venue: a 20-minute walk or a short taxi ride.

Within the city, the CTA ‘L’ stations closest to Venue SIX10 are Harrison (Red Line), Harold Washington Library–State/Van Buren (Brown, Orange, Pink and Purple Lines) and Jackson (Red and Blue Lines), each a few minutes’ walk away. Metra commuter trains stop at Van Buren Street, right on Michigan Avenue.

You can pay for CTA rides with a contactless bank card or phone, or with a Ventra card or the Ventra app.

Intercity bus companies such as Greyhound, Megabus and FlixBus connect Chicago with cities across the Midwest. Within the city, CTA buses along Michigan Avenue stop close to the venue.

Interstates I-90/94, I-55 and I-290 all lead into downtown Chicago. Parking downtown is expensive; the closest public garage to the venue is the Grant Park South Garage beneath Michigan Avenue, between Adams Street and Van Buren Street. Many hotels also offer paid valet parking.

Taxis and rideshare services (such as Uber and Lyft) are easy to find at both airports and throughout downtown. Ask to be dropped off at 610 South Michigan Avenue, between Harrison Street and Balbo Drive.

Chicago’s Divvy bike-share has stations all over downtown, including along Michigan Avenue and in Grant Park. The Lakefront Trail, which runs along Lake Michigan just east of the venue, is one of the nicest ways to explore the city in June.
